The Final Destination, a review

When Nick and friends decide to go to a race track for a group outing, Nick suddenly gains the ability to predict the deaths of people. Just when he saves his three friends from a disaster beyond proportions, it turns out that death has another thing in store for them.

When the first deaths rear their heads, the first thing to evict from me was… Laughter. I am dead serious. Do you realize how badly a film whose intention to be scary has to fail, in order to entice laughter. However, this film manages to do just that.

Seriously, people just get smashed and sliced in such a silly way, that this might as well be Looney Tunes: the Horror movie. It’s that silly!

There’s even a part where the film itself gives up and just runs one its victims in a car accident. I am dead serious. We’re supposed to believe everyone dies in an elaborate manner, and one guy just becomes road kill. How stupid is that?

As for the film itself, it’s just a recycled formula of people you don’t know about and don’t care about getting killed off one by one. This is foreshadowed by ludicrous set-ups that have very silly effects. There’s also Nick who’s trying to figure out anything, but he mostly just has dream sequences just to annoy the audience. Seriously, this movie might just be labeled: “So Bad, it’s good!”

As for the 3D, it’s standard affair. Things such as sticks fly out at you and soar, but other than that, there’s really no reason to see this movie unless you wanna laugh your ass off.
I now know the meaning of hilariously bad. Today was a good day.

You should see Halloween II. You might not like it but it would probably give you a jump or two.
